Before you start

You need an approved account and 10 credits. The app must be one you built, or one you may list for its owner, and it must be free or have a free trial, so a tester can try it without paying.

Paste a link, check it, submit it

  1. Paste the link to your app or its domain. We read the public page behind it and fill in the app's name, a one-line description, a description and its logo.
  2. Check all of it and change what you like. What you submit is your responsibility, including what we filled in. Your contact email is for the team only and is never shown.
  3. Submit it for review. By submitting you agree to the Terms, and you let TestMyBuild show the app's name, logo, description and links on its listing.

The 10 credits and what they become

When you submit, 10 credits go on hold.

  • If the app is listed, the 10 become the listing's pool, which pays testers. They do not come back to you.
  • If it is not listed, 1 is spent for the review and 9 come back to your balance.

What the team does when it tests

A person on the team signs up to your app, uses it, and writes what is wrong before what is right, because that is what helps you most.

If the app is listed, that feedback is the first post on your listing, marked "from the team". It takes nothing from your pool. Beyond the team's feedback, we cannot promise any number of testers or results.

What gets a listing rejected

If we do not list your app, we tell you why. That reason is our feedback. The common reasons:

  • The app is not free and has no free trial.
  • The app is broken: the link does not open, or it cannot be installed.
  • The app is unsafe: malware, or built to deceive or harm the people who use it.
  • The app is not yours to list.

Fix the reason and submit again from My listings, on your account page.

Once it is live

A listing is permanent. A live listing stays on TestMyBuild, and you cannot edit it or take it down yourself, so check everything before you submit. If something on it is wrong, write to info@testmybuild.app.

The bounty is what a tester earns for one approved post, paid from your listing's pool. It starts at 1 credit. You can change it at any time, to a whole number from 1 to 10 that is not above the credits available in the pool.

To raise it, open your listing under My listings on your account page. You can also add credits from your balance to the pool. A change applies to posts made after it.

You can also show us that you control your app's website. It is optional. If it works, the listing shows a verified mark. It is not a check of the app.

Get feedback from your own users

A live listing has a link you can share, testmybuild.app/t/ followed by a short name for your listing. You find it under My listings, in the panel "Get feedback on your app".

Share it yourself, and only where the rules of the place you share it allow. We never email or message anyone for you.

Everyone who comes through your link must be 18 or older, creates an account like anyone else, and is reviewed by a person. They post under the same rules, and an approved post earns your listing's bounty from its pool.

Ask for honest feedback, never for praise or a good score. Do not ask people who work on the app, work for you or are your close family to post.

What you will receive by email

We email you that we received your app, and later that it is listed or the reason it is not. We also email you when a tester leaves feedback, when a payment leaves your pool empty or under the bounty, and when testers poke your listing, at most once in 24 hours for pokes. The same events show under the bell on the site. You can turn these activity emails off under Account. Service emails still arrive. We send no marketing email.

Questions and answers

How do I list my app on TestMyBuild?

Paste the link to your app, check the listing we fill in, and submit it for review with 10 credits. The team tries the app and lists it, or tells you why not.

How much does it cost to list an app?

It costs 10 credits, held when you submit. If the app is listed, they become its pool, which pays testers. If it is not listed, 1 is spent for the review and 9 come back.

How do I get feedback from my own users?

Share your listing's link from My listings. People who come through it create an account, are reviewed by a person, and post under the same rules.
