Pick a listed app

You need an approved account. Open the apps and pick one you would really try. It cannot be your own.

Each card shows its bounty: the credits the listing pays for one approved post. When it shows 0, the pool cannot cover the bounty, and nobody can post until the builder adds credits or lowers the bounty.

When you sign up to a listed app, you deal with its builder, under the builder's own terms and privacy policy.

Sign up and use it for real

Sign up to the app with your own email, then use it as a person who needs it would. Feedback is only worth something if you really tried the app.

Some apps start their free trial with a card. Cancel before the trial ends if you do not want to pay for the app. We never charge you to test.

If an app asks for money or for details that signing up should not need, or looks like a scam, stop and write to info@testmybuild.app.

What a useful post says

Say it plainly, so the builder can act on it:

  • What broke.
  • What confused you.
  • What you would change.
  • What you liked, and why.

Praise alone is not feedback. "I will use this" is not feedback either. A specific, critical post is approved just like a kind one.

Here is the kind of post that helps: "The sign-up code never came on my second try. I thought the blue button saved my work, but it only closed the page. I would put the price on the first screen. I liked the weekly summary."

A post is plain text, up to 4,000 characters, and a web address in it is not a clickable link.

The screenshot of your signup

Every post has one screenshot of your own signup in the app. It shows that you really signed up.

A signup screen often shows your name or your email address. Once your post is approved, the screenshot is public. Crop it or cover your email, and anything else you do not want shown, before you upload it.

What gets a post rejected

A post is not approved when it is:

  • Generic text that could be about any app.
  • Without a real signup, or with a screenshot that does not show your signup.
  • Copied: words you did not write yourself.
  • Showing someone else's personal information.
  • Spam, or an attempt to game the credits, the bounties or the list.

Reviews on the App Store, Play or Trustpilot are not part of this. A public review is never required here and never rewarded.

A rejected post earns nothing, and we tell you why. You can post again on that app once you have fixed the reason, while its pool still covers the bounty.

One post per app, and what you earn

You post once on each app. For more credits, test more apps.

The post form shows what an approved post earns: the listing's bounty, from 1 to 10 credits. When you post, that amount is set aside for you from the listing's pool and shows on your Credits page under Awaiting approval. The team's approval pays it to your balance. If the post is not approved, the credits go back to the pool. Credits have no cash value and never expire.

After your post is approved

An approved post is public, on the listing and on your public page, with your handle, your picture and the date. The builder gets it by email.

The builder may reply to your post, one reply at a time. The reply shows under it, marked as the builder's.

The builder may also quote your words in their own marketing, credited to a TestMyBuild tester or to your handle, and must say that you earned credits for the post. They may not reuse your screenshot. You keep your rights in your words, and you can ask us at info@testmybuild.app to take a post down.

Questions and answers

How do I review an app on TestMyBuild?

Pick a listed app, sign up to it with your own email, and use it. Then post one screenshot of your signup with honest feedback: what broke, what confused you, what you would change, and what you liked and why.

Does praise count as feedback?

Not on its own. Say what you liked and why, and say what broke, what confused you and what you would change. A post that only says it is great, or that you will use the app, tells the builder nothing.

Do I have to leave a review in an app store?

No. A public review is never required on TestMyBuild and never rewarded.
