Two roles, one account

TestMyBuild is a website where people who build apps get their first real testers and honest feedback. You can take two roles with one account.

  • A builder lists an app. The team tries it and posts the first feedback, and then testers can sign up to it.
  • A tester signs up to a listed app, uses it, and posts a screenshot of the signup with honest feedback.

A person on the team reviews every new account before it can list an app or post feedback. You can browse without an account.

The credit loop

Credits move between the two roles. A tester earns them by posting feedback on other people's apps. A builder spends them to list an app and to pay testers.

  1. A builder pastes a link to their app, checks the listing and submits it for review. 10 credits go on hold.
  2. The team tries the app and lists it with its own feedback as the first post. The 10 credits become the listing's pool.
  3. The builder sets a bounty, from 1 to 10 credits, for each approved post.
  4. An approved tester signs up to the app, uses it, and posts a screenshot of the signup with honest feedback.
  5. The team approves the post. The bounty moves from the pool to the tester.
  6. The tester can spend those credits to list an app of their own.

Credits have no cash value, they never expire, and they are never paid out as money.

A person checks every step

A person on the team reviews every new account, tries every app before it goes live, and checks every post before it appears. That is our main protection against abuse.

We approve or reject a post on whether it follows the rules, never on whether it is positive or negative. The builder pays the bounty but has no say in which posts appear.

What is free and what costs credits

  • Browsing the apps is free, and you do not need an account for it.
  • Testing is free. Every listed app is free or has a free trial. Some trials start with a card: cancel before the trial ends if you do not want to pay for the app.
  • Listing an app costs 10 credits. If the app is not listed, 1 is spent for the review and 9 come back to your balance.
  • You can earn credits by testing, or buy them once your account is approved: 10 for US$9.99 or 50 for US$39.99. Neither is a subscription.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older, with one account per person.

Questions and answers

How does TestMyBuild work?

A builder lists an app and the team tests it. Approved testers then sign up to the app and post honest feedback, and each approved post earns them the listing's bounty, paid in credits from the listing's pool.

Does it cost anything to test an app?

No. We never charge a tester. A listed app can start its free trial with a card, so cancel before the trial ends if you do not want to pay for the app.

Who checks the posts?

A person on the team checks every post before it appears, on the rules and not on whether it is positive or negative.

Can I use TestMyBuild if I am under 18?

No. You must be 18 or older.
