What the builder wants tested

**Welcome to LifeOverview!**

LifeOverview is an all-in-one dashboard designed to help you manage your finances, investments, savings, work, fitness and daily life.

**What to test:**

  1. Sign up and log in using your account.
  2. Explore the dashboard and navigate between sections.
  3. Test the Pay Splitter by entering income and distributing money across accounts.
  4. Add bank accounts, savings goals and investments.
  5. Explore the Work Tracker and fitness features.
  6. Test cloud syncing between devices and browser tabs where available.
  7. Check that your information saves correctly after refreshing or signing out and back in.
  8. Test the layout, colours and navigation on mobile and desktop.

**What feedback we're looking for:**

  • Are any features broken or confusing?
  • Does your data save correctly?
  • Is the dashboard easy to navigate?
  • Are there performance issues or loading delays?
  • What features would you improve or add?

**Important:** LifeOverview is still in early development.

Free trial, then a paid plan. Testers never pay to test. If a trial asks for a card, cancel before it ends.

This app is made and run by its builder, not by TestMyBuild. We tried it once before listing it, which is not a check that it is safe, keeps working or handles your data well. Use your own judgement.

How to test this app

  1. Open the app and sign up with your real email. Start the free trial if there is one.
  2. Use it the way you would use it for real, for at least a day.
  3. Come back here. Post a screenshot of your signup and what you honestly think. One post per app, worth the listing's bounty when approved.

1. Listing & first impressions

  • Your listing description isn't complete yet. It scores 3/10, so check the bounty section of your listing and you'll see exactly what to improve.
  • Your website takes me straight to the login page. Add a landing page so I can see what the app does before I sign in. Right now, even after testing, I still can't say clearly what I'd use it for.

2. Sign up & dashboard (test 1 & 2)

  • Google sign-in works fine.
  • The home dashboard shows a lot at once: Start with a pay, Enter your savings, Calendar, CSV import, Connect to Todoist. Make the one main action obvious. Picture someone tunnel-visioned at 100% zoom: what's the first thing they see and do?
  • After adding a pay, the homepage still says "Welcome to your personal headquarters." It should react to what I've already done.
  • Navigation is hard overall. I struggled to find most sections.
  • Tip: map out your perfect customer journey. Landing page → sign in → log a pay → … → upgrade. Then design every screen around that path.

3. Pay Splitter (test 3)

  • Currency: it set my net pay in Australian dollars and never asked me. I couldn't change it. Auto-detect it, but always let people change it as a fallback.
  • Too many fields at once: net pay, pay period, payment date, bills reserve, investments. Maybe you need all of them, but ask one at a time.
  • Labels like "bills reserve" and "net amount actually received" aren't clear for non-professionals.
  • Bug: I switched to another tab mid-entry and came back to find everything I'd filled in was gone. Either warn about unsaved changes or auto-save a draft.
  • "Record pay only after receiving it": add a Schedule option (e.g. a checkbox) so I can log a future salary or backdate a past one.
  • Saving works 👍
  • Move validation/warning messages to a notification in the top right. Middle-bottom feels out of place.

4. Bank accounts, savings & investments (test 4)

  • I couldn't figure out where to add these at all. Make this much easier to find.

5. Work Tracker & fitness (test 5)

  • With everything unlocked, the problem is the same: I have to learn how to set up exercise, Todoist and finance all at once. That's a lot.
  • Connecting to other apps is the right move, since it skips the setup work. Lean into that.
  • Give each dashboard (Work Tracker, gym, etc.) one main CTA the first time someone opens it: log something or connect your tool.
  • Calendar: add Google Calendar sync.

6. Syncing & saving (test 6 & 7)

  • Same browser, signed out and back in → data saved correctly. ✅
  • Bug: logged in on my phone with the same Google account and my Pay Splitter data wasn't there. Cross-device sync seems broken.
  • Closing the tab logged me out. Remember my session so I don't have to log in every single time.
  • After Sign out, it sends me to the login with email option. Small thing.

7. Layout on mobile & desktop (test 8)

  • Desktop is fine. Mobile looks basically the same, and pretty good. Colours look great.
  • Bug: on mobile, once I open the navigation I can't close it without picking a section.
  • Inconsistency: light mode shows a normal icon, dark mode shows a ☀️ emoji. Go all in on emojis or don't use them at all.
  • Consider one dashboard per area: finance, productivity, fitness (which already exists). Each one says: "Here you can do this, this and that."

8. Pricing & payments

  • Pro at A$5/month is very reasonable and makes sense. Show it in my local currency though, as I had no idea what A$5 is.
  • Stripe checkout: trusted, standard, works.
  • Almost everything beyond the basics is Pro. That's fine, but let me use something first. Show the value, then ask to pay.

9. Your answers

  • Broken or confusing? Unsaved form data loss, cross-device sync, mobile nav. Mostly it's confusing rather than broken.
  • Data saves correctly? Yes on the same device, not across devices.
  • Easy to navigate? Not yet.
  • Performance? No issues, loading is fine.

10. The biggest thing: get people started small
Right now it's all-or-nothing: either I log everything in full detail, or it's too much and I log nothing. Most people will log nothing.

  • Let people do one small thing first, and usage grows from there.
  • Use your AI right on the home dashboard: "Where do we start?" → Log a workout / Log a saving / Log a pay. A few simple options, then let the AI guide them.

Bottom line
The idea is sound and the core works and logs correctly. Your challenge is onboarding: make it dead simple to start, and the rest will follow.
