What the builder wants tested

Please test the pet profile setup, family sharing, care reminders, feeding schedules, medication tracking, and expense management. Check that the main features work smoothly and share any bugs or suggestions for improvement.

Completely free.

This app is made and run by its builder, not by TestMyBuild. We tried it once before listing it, which is not a check that it is safe, keeps working or handles your data well. Use your own judgement.

How to test this app

  1. Open the app and sign up with your real email. Start the free trial if there is one.
  2. Use it the way you would use it for real, for at least a day.
  3. Come back here. Post a screenshot of your signup and what you honestly think. One post per app, worth the listing's bounty when approved.

janTested on Android

1. App Store / Play Store listing
Fully ASO-optimized. Nothing to add.

2. Onboarding & permissions

  • The app asks for notifications the second it opens, then right away for camera/video. Too soon – some people find it weird to give permissions before seeing anything. Move both later.
  • Best moment for the camera permission: when someone taps QR or add a photo while joining or adding a pet.
  • Intro screens show the 3 core features well. The pill at the top doesn't do anything and feels a bit AI-generated.
  • Login comes immediately. Fine for me, but asking people to sign up before they've seen anything will put some off.
  • Google sign-up works.
  • Join a pet / Add a new pet – very good. One clear decision.

3. Pet profile setup

  • Done in under 30 seconds. Exactly what you want.
  • Breed list + "Other" works. Put Other at the bottom (people expect it last) and maybe explain why these breeds are shown.
  • Birthday date picker is better than the Android native one.
  • lb/kg option – very good.

4. Home screen

  • Clean, clear and readable everywhere. Large buttons, great feel.
  • The empty state ("No tasks scheduled today") needs an add button so it's clear what to do.
  • Aim for one main CTA.
  • The plus button in Schedule opens the same thing as Quick Actions. Put it on Home too and drop the Quick Actions section. One plus → quick action / schedule / expense…

5. Feeding schedules & logging

  • Food, walks etc. work well.
  • Only ask people to log what you actually need right now – more data clutters the app.
  • Portion amount: add +/− buttons so people don't have to type it every time.

6. Care reminders & notifications

  • Walk reminder works.
  • Too many notifications. I get one every time I log something. Only notify for a missed or upcoming schedule, or when someone else logs something.

7. Family sharing & premium

  • Invite member as premium is the right way to monetize.
  • But the premium message has no upgrade link – I had to find it in my profile. If someone hits a paywall through their own action, take them straight to the upgrade.
  • Pricing tip: free for one person, charge per added family member.
  • Please release on iOS – families never all use the same OS. Can't wait to test it with mine.

8. Expenses
Works fine. Probably not a major part of the app.

9. Bugs & dead ends

  1. Main blocker – "The end date cannot be in the past": logging a meal for later today (e.g. 5 min from now) says the date is in the past. It isn't. Only seems to happen when creating – editing my walk to today worked. To reproduce: log food for later today. This blocks almost all logging.
  2. Log now vs. schedule: first-time users log what they just did. Let them, then ask "Schedule this for next time?"
  3. Can't reopen tasks: I completed a walk in 3 seconds to test it and couldn't reopen it. Same for skip/start. Every action needs to be reversible.
  4. Too many notifications (see 6).
  5. No upgrade link on the paywall (see 7).

10. Where the real value is: delegation
I have a family of 6. Right now we coordinate the dog in WhatsApp: "Who can do this? I'll do that." Messy and nothing gets tracked.

  • Assign tasks (walk, feeding) to a family member.
  • Remind people when they don't do it, and let them swap.
  • Stats: who walked the dog the most? Ends the "I did it last time" discussions.
  • Flexible times: people walk "around lunch," not exactly at 1:00.
  • Optional: availability per person and goals (e.g. 1 hour of walking a day).

Look at how a family handles this in a group chat and turn that into the app.

Bottom line
Right concept, really good UI. Fix the date bug and the dead ends, and go all-in on responsibility delegation – that's what would make my family use it every day.
