1. Website
- Put the official App Store and Google Play badges above the fold (from Apple's and Google's marketing resources).
- Replace the "Get the App" button with those badges.
- Remove the "Out now on iPhone and Android" section, since it becomes redundant.
2. App Store Listing (ASO)
- Solid overall, and the screenshots are good.
- "Car maintenance" is too generic. Lead with your strongest features instead. I would do some keyword research where you can win in this niche.
- "Service tracker" and "oil reminder" are clearer, so I'd lean into that wording.
3. Onboarding
Works well: friendly name prompt, working VIN scanner, estimated condition, nice haptics, and the notification prompt is correctly timed after onboarding.
To improve:
- Move "Scan VIN" into the VIN field. The separate button suggests it fills in all vehicle details, but it only adds the number.
- Use "Gasoline" instead of "Petrol" for the US, and keep it consistent (Nearby says "gas stations").
- Ask for the model variant (e.g. GLA 180/200/220).
- The paywall comes too early. I hadn't seen the app yet.
4. Main App
Works well: car photo background removal, Genie suggestions, Learn with Genie lessons, roadside assistance, and the health score.
To improve:
- Put "Ask Genie" on the main screen. It's your strongest feature.
- Move "Garage" elsewhere. People rarely change vehicles.
- The Genie suggestion only changes when I close it.
- Roadside assistance says no coverage is set, but I couldn't find where to set it.
- Remove the direct 911 call. 911 doesn't handle car problems, and people will call it themselves in a real emergency.
5. Nearby
- Add gas price comparison. It saves people money, so it's the feature most likely to drive installs and payments. Community-reported prices would work.
- Consider dropping restaurants, hotels, and ATMs. They're off-purpose.
6. Positioning: Teach in the Moment
My biggest piece of feedback.
- The app feels like a toolbox without instructions. Great tools, but I'm not shown what to do with them. I wouldn't pay just to log my car.
- Make the value clear upfront, e.g. a "What do you want to do today?" screen.
- Offer lessons on demand. People won't do them on the couch; they need them in the moment. Example: "My car needs an oil check, but I don't know how" → "We have a lesson for that. Go to your car and we'll do it together." That beats a YouTube video.
- Use proactive prompts, e.g. "When was your last oil change? Let's do it now."
- Target people without much car experience, who feel embarrassed asking for help or worry about getting scammed by mechanics.
7. Feature Idea: Fair Price Estimates
- When Genie recommends a service, show the normal cost: "For a Mercedes GLA in your area, an oil change typically costs $X–$Y."
- Many people don't know what's a fair price, so this directly addresses the fear of being overcharged.
- It completes the Genie flow: diagnose → teach me to fix it, or tell me a fair price for a mechanic.
- Could use pricing data by model and location, community reports, or both.
8. Monetization
- Almost everything is usable without Premium.
- Gate specific valuable features so users hit the paywall when they need something. That's when they convert.
Summary
Great foundation. Main opportunities:
- Clearer positioning of what the app helps you do
- Genie front and center with in-the-moment lessons
- Gas price comparison
- Paywall at the moment of need
- Fair price estimates for services
