Aerlot Messenger

Fast, Open & Private Messenger

AndroidFree

Listed by king,

Aerlot, is a fast, open and private messenger where you don’t need a phone number to create an account — you just sign in with email and instantly start chatting with anyone. Users are discoverable by default (unless they switch to private), so it feels more open and social than traditional contact-based messengers. There’s no need for manual chat backups because Aerlot automatically keeps everything synced. And one of our strongest features is chat privacy — if either person enables screenshot protection, Aerlot blocks screenshots and screen recordings on both sides. So we’re blending openness, simplicity, and strong privacy controls in a way most messaging apps don’t offer

Completely free.

This app is made and run by its builder, not by TestMyBuild. We tried it once before listing it, which is not a check that it is safe, keeps working or handles your data well. Use your own judgement.

How to test this app

  1. Open the app and sign up with your real email. Start the free trial if there is one.
  2. Use it the way you would use it for real, for at least a day.
  3. Come back here. Post a screenshot of your signup and what you honestly think. One post per app, worth the listing's bounty when approved.

Quick note: This will sound critical. You have a great basis and the app works, which matters most. But generic praise won't help you, so I'm focusing on what holds it back.

TL;DR: The features work. The problem is positioning. I can't tell why I'd use Aerlot over WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal, and your promo text pulls in two directions. Pick one and lead with it everywhere. Take inspiration from Signal for example. They do this very well, you go to their page it says "Say hello to privacy" and I immediately understand what they're about.

1. Play Store listing

  • Title: Add what the app does, e.g. "Aerlot: Private Chats, No Screenshots."
  • Tagline: "Fast, open, and private" describes every messenger. Be specific.
  • First screenshot: State your one biggest advantage in a headline. Signal owns privacy, Telegram owns channels, Session and Threema own no-phone-number sign-up. Pick yours.

2. Promo text sends mixed messages

You say Aerlot is "open and social," then that it's built for privacy. Which is it?

  • Social: It doesn't feel social yet. Only two or three profiles in search had a picture. A social app needs complete profiles, so push users to fill theirs in.
  • No manual backups: Drop this from the promo. Nobody downloads an app for it.
  • Screenshot protection on both sides: Your strongest, most distinctive point. Make it the main message.

Snapchat mixes open profiles with screenshot alerts, but it's positioned very clearly. You can still be social without saying so. My app, Daily Captain, is social, but I never advertise it that way. Users discover it.

3. Onboarding

  • Remove the splash/Continue screen. Start with "Enter your email to get started."
  • Remove the email/OTP overlay. Errors (incomplete email, empty code) show on the background, but that is darkened because the overlay is opened. So they aren't readable. Try to reproduce this yourself in a test. Enter a wrong email address or a wrong OTP and you'll see what happens.
  • OTP placeholder: Use "000000" instead of "123456," which looks like a real code.
  • Notifications: The permission prompt appeared twice. Show it once.

4. Bugs & UX

  • Endless "Syncing" on a new account with no chats. Show an empty state instead ("No chats yet, start one").
  • Back button: After messaging someone from search, back should go to the chat list, not the search list.
  • Works well: Profile edits save even without tapping Done, and following works.

5. User search

It shows random strangers I have no reason to message. It's also a moderation risk, since offensive names or bios will eventually appear. Add reporting/blocking, or only show exact username matches. This matters even more if you lead with privacy.

6. Premium

It doesn't add enough value, and paying outside the app feels untrustworthy. Use in-app payment, and tie premium to your core advantage.

7. What's your thing?

Everything works, but I still can't say why I'd choose Aerlot. My recommendation: lead with private conversations and screenshot protection, then build the title, screenshots, promo text, onboarding and premium around that one idea.
